Overview:

CVS samples placental tissue for chromosomal and genetic testing at 11-14 weeks. Under local anesthesia and ultrasound guidance, we take a sample via thin needle through abdomen. The procedure itself takes a minute; results for Down syndrome in 3 days, rare abnormalities in 2-4 weeks. 0.5-1% miscarriage risk.
