Saline Infusion Sonography (SIS)

Enhanced Evaluation of the Uterine Cavity

Sonohisterografija (Saline Infusion Sonography, SIS)

Enhanced Evaluation of the Uterine Cavity

Overview:

Saline Infusion Sonography (SIS) is an advanced ultrasound technique used to evaluate the uterine cavity with greater precision. By gently introducing sterile saline into the uterus, the cavity is expanded, allowing clear visualization of the endometrium and detection of subtle abnormalities that may not be visible on standard ultrasound.

Procedure:

The procedure is quick, minimally invasive, and performed in our clinic. A thin catheter is inserted into the cervix, and sterile saline is infused while transvaginal ultrasound imaging provides a detailed view of the uterine lining and cavity.

What We Can Detect:

SIS helps diagnose and assess: endometrial polyps, submucosal fibroids, adhesions (synechiae), septum, and other uterine cavity irregularities that may affect fertility or cause abnormal bleeding.
